The belonging of cats and dogs to different biological species is obvious. And this only complicates the choice of a pet! This article is useful for those who have not yet decided on a pet, want to keep two at once, or just find out how cats differ from dogs?

See and hear better

  • Cats have vision typical of a nocturnal animal. Dogs are for the daytime. This explains why cats have such large (and keen!) eyes. But colors and those and others distinguish much worse than a person.
  • Hearing in cats is also better developed: it reaches at least 65 kilohertz compared to 45 in dogs. Whereas a person has only 20!
  • But in the “smell” round, cats give way to superiority. A dog’s nose contains 300 million receptors, while cats have “only” 200 million. It’s embarrassing to talk about a man with his modest 5 million …

hide their claws

Every cat owner knows how sharp her claws can be. This is because cats can draw them in – and therefore not blunt when walking. Dog claws are always outside – and quickly wear down on the floor or ground. However, this does not mean that only cats need to trim their nails – the condition of this part of the body should be monitored in any pet.

eat more often

All pets love good food, but their needs vary greatly. Cat portions are usually smaller than dog portions – but the cat should also have more meals.

In addition, the texture of the food is important for cats. They prefer dense and moist foods, but powdery and sticky textures are perceived poorly. A cat that is accustomed to a certain food structure may refuse an unfamiliar type of food – this is important to consider when switching to a new diet.

Cats and dogs should not be fed the same food. Separate food lines take into account not the economic needs of producers, but the physiological differences of animals: the length of the intestine, the size of the teeth and the activity of enzymes.

More precisely, avoid getting wet. Wet cat hair does not allow the air layer to adjust the body temperature of the animal in hot or cold weather, and the increased smell can betray the cat both to its prey and to larger predators. Unlike dogs, cats don’t dust themselves off after baths or go on long runs to get dry. That is why animals treat the bathing procedure so differently.

Appreciate comfort

Dogs need space to maintain physical fitness and good mood – for running, playing and walking several times a day. Representatives of the cats prefer to spend time at home. And even there, they look for the coziest and safest place – this is one of the reasons why cats love boxes.

More difficult to train

Dog training has become more widespread for a reason – these animals can work in a group and withstand long training sessions. However, wayward cats can – and should! – train. Short but regular workouts will help teach the fluffy beauty basic commands – even if the cat does not initially respond to the name.

Walking on their own

Koer: “We love each other – we’re best friends – we love going out together so much – play with me.”

Kass: “Leave. Come back. I like you. Let me go. Give me a treat. Leave”.

Every joke has its share of jokes. Everything else is based on real events and even scientifically explainable. Dogs are members of the pack, and in their owner they see a parent, friend and leader all rolled into one. Cats, by nature, are solitary animals, but this does not prevent them from waiting for tasty food and a fresh tray from the owner.
